ICS: Maritime industry loses $ 350 million per week due to coronavirus

The International Shipping Association (ICS) estimates that the coronavirus outbreak has cost the shipping industry $ 350 million in lost revenue each week.

The prion outbreak has had a significant impact on the shipping industry, which is working closely with the World Health Organization (WHO) to ensure that industry and government guidelines help limit the spread of the virus while maintaining international trade.

As a result, Guy Platten, Secretary General of ICS, is leading a delegation of industry leaders to meet with WHO in Geneva to discuss the impact of covid19 on the industry.

The International Rescue Center estimates that more than 350,000 boxes have been removed from global trade due to the outbreak.

It is understood that the global supply chain continues to be affected, and problems such as ship quarantine at the port, crew replacement, and ensuring the health of seafarers and passengers still exist.

"We have proposed working with WHO to assess and improve best practices for managing health threats in the shipboard environment. In particular, the cruise industry has highly advanced practices and procedures and we are looking for practical ways to adapt to more A wide range of maritime applications. We hope that this effort will help provide shore authorities with some additional clarity and consistency when dealing with ship health emergencies, "Platten said.

"Our ideas are relevant to the Chinese people, and the shipping industry is ready to be a powerful engine to help them recover when this situation improves."

ICS has always recommended that all members closely follow WHO-supported guidelines on how to limit the risk of infection.
