COSCO Group opens Wuhan new terminal



        COSCO SHIPPING Ports (CSP) announced that the Wuhan Yangluo International Port's water-rail intermodal container project (CSP Wuhan Wharf) will be officially put into operation on August 1.


   On the day of the event, the new "COSCO SHIPPING Blue" cranes lined up. The 11140teu "Hanhai 2" freighter fully loaded with cargo docked at berth 3 in the terminal operation area, and the unmanned container vehicle (DCV) made its debut. In addition, the first batch of containers will be assembled in the railway operation area of ​​the terminal.


   In the railway operation area of ​​the wharf, a freight train of 50 containers drove from the "Wuhan Port Station" to the destination, and water and railway transportation were seamlessly connected. According to a statement, with the automation and intelligence of the port from horizontal transportation to vertical loading and unloading, the entire process is completed in one go.


   The project’s integrated MTR layout, one-stop transportation, customs inspection, and information sharing on the same site also marked the beginning of a new chapter in the “water-rail combined transport” of the CSP Wuhan Terminal on the Yangtze River. According to CSP's announcement, the Yangtze River Port has built a modern logistics hub for container distribution, which has strengthened the determination and ability of the ports along the Yangtze River to transform and upgrade into a new smart and green port.


   COSCO SHIPPING Party Secretary and Chairman Xu Lirong said that the project is a major achievement of deepening strategic cooperation between Wuhan City, Hubei Province and COSCO Shipping Group, and it is also a major move of the group to deepen the "Yangtze River Strategy".


        Xu Lirong added: "We will increase investment in ports and shipping logistics resources in Hubei Province and Wuhan City, and cooperate with partners such as Hubei Port Group and Shanghai SIPG to help Wuhan build a central hub and regional shipping center. my country’s marine and shipping powers make contributions."
