John Menzies enters China's air cargo market



Air services company John Menzies plans to enter the Chinese air cargo market.


   The company will invest 3.4 million pounds (4.8 million US dollars) in a joint venture to acquire a minority stake in the Chinese company Guangzhou MRT Aviation Logistics Supply Chain Co., Ltd. (JFreight).


   Menzies will manage and operate a new cargo terminal at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in China on behalf of JFreight shareholders.


  In this terminal that can handle up to 120,000 tons of cargo each year, Menzies will focus on handling cargo related to the fast-growing Chinese e-commerce market.


  John Menzies Chairman and CEO Philip? Philipp Joeinig said: "I am very happy to announce the expansion in the Chinese freight market. We are very happy to find a great partner in JFreight, and I look forward to developing our relationship with them as we move forward.

   JFreight has rich experience in artificial intelligence and robotics, and used its technical skills to create smart terminals in the hub.
