Maersk launches digital supply chain management platform

Maersk is launching a digital platform designed to help small and medium enterprises manage and simplify their supply chains.

Maersk said that the platform will strengthen the company's position as a global container logistics integrator.

There are thousands of products flowing in the supply chain through multiple operators every day, coming from and arriving at many supply chain partners and customers.

For many of these companies, this complexity is completely managed manually through spreadsheets, e-mails, and phone calls. Although there is a lot of hard work, this leads to reduced visibility and control—and ultimately increases in costs. Or loss of sales.

"We are very happy with the release of Maersk Flow, which will provide these customers with a digital supply chain management tool, which is specifically designed for their needs."

"Maersk Logistics will enable our customers to significantly improve their supply chain performance with less time and energy. This allows them to focus more resources on their core business, making customers happier and achieving higher sales growth.

Maersk stated that the solution will improve the transparency of key supply chain processes and ensure that the flow of goods and documents is executed as planned.

It also aims to reduce manual work and costly errors, while providing logistics professionals with all the current and historical data they need.

Many industry organizations have described the coronavirus pandemic as a catalyst for the digitalization of the shipping industry because social distancing and travel restrictions have increased the need for operational automation.

Therefore, the department is adopting more digitalization as a means to improve business efficiency while complying with the safety and health measures implemented by the government and health authorities.

However, with greater reliance on technology, the need to protect these systems and software from cyber attacks and hacker attacks has also grown exponentially.
