DHL launches new online freight forwarding platform

DHL Global Freight Forwarding (GF) has launched a trial version of myDHLi, a fully integrated online platform for its freight forwarding customers, which is part of the Deutsche Post DHL 2025 Strategy-achieving excellence in the digital world.

The freight forwarder said it believes the outbreak of coronavirus will drive the company to develop digital solutions.

The new myDHLi platform is based on the CargoWise transportation management system, enabling DHL GF customers to manage transportation methods (air and sea), freight rates, carbon emissions and transportation data, as well as analysis and reporting.

MyDHLi merges DHL GF's existing online services (such as myDHLi Quote & Book and myDHLi Analytics) with new services and features and merges them into one platform.

Users can configure the myDHLi platform to include only the specific services they need.

DHL GF said that the key USP of its myDHLi platform is a new social media-style "follow and share" feature that allows users to contact trading partners, share information about ongoing shipments and view shipment status together.

The new tracking feature provides users with end-to-end information, as well as near real-time full visibility of air and sea cargo, as well as automatic status updates and push notifications.

In addition, myDHLi Documents (also a new feature) provides users with access to information for downloading or storing shipping documents, such as quotations, commercial invoices, packing slips, house slips, invoices and proof of delivery.

MyDHLi Analytics is an older online DHL GF service that enables platform users to easily view, analyze, and export freight data in Excel-compatible formats.

In the myDHLi webinar held today (May 19), Tim Scharwath, CEO of DHL GF explained: "We have created a one-stop customer portal that meets customer needs. By providing services such as online quotation and booking Combined with freight tracking, document accessibility, and data analysis, we not only create 360-degree visibility, but also lay the foundation for customers to manage their logistics anytime, anywhere.

"We firmly believe that digitalization has the potential to both mitigate and improve the daily business of shippers and freight forwarders.

"In times such as the unpredictable and challenging times that Covid-19 is currently facing, it is even more so. It may now become an accelerator for industry digitization. This is what digitization means to us, and why it is the cornerstone of the 2025 strategy . "

DHL GF revealed that it began internal development of the myDHLi platform in March last year.

The trial phase of myDHLi involves selected DHL GFF customers who use the platform and share feedback about them. These customers are located in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa.

DHL GF said it is promoting myDHLi to be widely used in waves, "to ensure a smooth transition between regions."

DHL GF stated that until myDHLi was fully launched, its earlier customer portal DHLi was not available.
