Cainiao will launch 2000 parcel lockers in Spain and France

Cainiao Network, a logistics subsidiary of Alibaba Group, has launched its locker network in Spain and France.

This move is part of its continuous efforts to strengthen its logistics value chain and improve the efficiency of last-mile logistics. Currently, the network consists of 170 lockers in Madrid and Barcelona, Spain, and more than 80 lockers in Paris, France. It is planned to deploy 2,000 lockers in these two countries before the end of the fiscal year in March 2022 and expand to major cities such as Lyon, Bordeaux and Lille.

The locker network will enable Cainiao to provide consumers, especially those who shop on AliExpress, the global market of Alibaba Group, with hassle-free, contact-free logistics services and flexible pick-up time. AliExpress consumers can choose to pick up the package at the nearest locker and pick up the package by entering the code or scanning the QR code. This also reduces the carbon footprint of last-mile logistics services.

David Bu, General Manager of Cainiao Network Europe, commented: “Spain and France are Cainiao’s two main markets in Europe, so it is vital that we continue to improve customer experience in these countries while reducing their carbon footprint. This reflects Cainiao’s Committed to providing more environmentally friendly smart logistics solutions to support sustainable economic growth."
