Cathay Pacific Cargo Transports Multiple Novel Coronavirus Vaccines



        Cathay Pacific Airways is using its vaccine solution pharmaceutical services to deliver large quantities of Covid-19 vaccine to destinations in its network under different conditions.


   Yesterday, the carrier shipped 1 million doses of vaccine produced by Fosun Pharma (Fosun Pharma/BioNTech) from Frankfurt to Hong Kong.


   This is the first batch of products delivered by Fosun Pharma/BioNTech to Cathay Pacific’s headquarters in Hong Kong.


   The airline also used a freighter to transport a batch of Fosun Pharma/BioNTech (Fosun Pharma/BioNTech) cargo to Penang.


   Cathay Pacific Cargo Director Tom Owen commented: “Different vaccines have different requirements. Fosun Pharma/Biotech vaccines must be transported in a deep-frozen state, which requires more complex transportation and storage solutions.”


   Cathay Pacific also recently shipped 1 million Coxing aircraft to Hong Kong. These doses are loaded in six temperature-controlled environmental containers RAP e2 to be kept at 2°C to 8°C and placed on the belly of an Airbus A330 airliner.


   This aircraft carrier also delivered 200,000 doses of Coxing medicine to Mexico. They are stored in a separate environmental container RAP e2 and carried by a Boeing 747-8 freighter.


   In addition, Cathay Pacific also shipped CanSinoBIO vaccine to Mexico via Beijing and Hong Kong.


   Later this week, it will carry another 800,000 doses of Coxing to Mexico.


   Cathay Pacific’s vaccine solution includes further training for warehouse and workshop employees to understand the different requirements of each vaccine so that they can be dealt with accordingly.


   Irwin said: "Our vaccine solutions have proven that using our freighter and passenger fleet and our extensive global network are very suitable for the rapid and effective distribution of this vaccine and other vaccines around the world."

   Cathay Pacific Cargo also stated that it is adding two weekly Boeing 777 cargo flights on the medical corridor between Brussels and Hong Kong to increase the capacity of its cargo network.
